President David Poisson called the meeting to order at 9:40 AM.  David welcomed members and guests.  The following new members were introduced:  Pam Bennett, Tricia Casey, Alane Hill, Katie McKerley, Doreen Moody, and Susan Rivet.

Secretary’s Report – Lynne Saltonstall

In Lynne’s absence Sherry Wheeler will take today’s minutes.  With copies of the July 12, 2006 membership meeting distributed and reviewed, Judith Lonergan made a motion to accept the minutes and was seconded by Donna Wright.  The minutes were unanimously accepted.

Treasurer’s Report-Robert Bussey

Balance forwarded:  $2,904.97.  Printed report lists all transactions including the deposit of $640, a donation from the former group MAVA (Manchester Association of Volunteer Administrators) which was dissolved a few years ago.  The current balance is $4913.35.  Sarah Brown made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report and Audrey Eisenhauer seconded.  The report was unanimously accepted.

Old Business:  No old business.

New Business:

Budget for 2007 was distributed.  A question was raised about the $500 Education Programs line item.  With these funds, Judith explained that NHAVA and Volunteer NH hope to offer joint programming for 2007.  Another question was brought to the floor as to whether money should be designated for someone from NHAVA to attend COVAA, the Congress of Volunteer Administrators Association, in December 2006 in Denver, CO.  The same question had been discussed at the September 14 Board Meeting.  Since the demise of AVA there are two groups of colleagues working to create new associations for Volunteer Administrators.  It was decided at the board meeting to wait to see what develops out of both of these efforts.  The second is the VRM Roudtable Task Force.  Jean Desany made a motion to accept the Budget for 2007 and seconded by Carol Mauceri.  The 2007 Budget was accepted by all.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Program Committee – Chair, Donna Wright

Donna distributed a recap of the successful programs for 2006,  including what topic is ahead for the January 10 meeting with a panel discussion on “Baby Boomer” volunteers and that NHAVA will be celebrating its 10th year anniversary.  Judith offered to help.

Membership Committee – Chair, Lisa Perry

So far renewal memberships were 26 and 13 new memberships.  With the addition of 7 new memberships as of today’s meeting, the total membership is 46.  Sherry has agreed to chair membership for 2007.

Communications Committee – Chair, Lois Meredith

David stated that the website was receiving about 3000 hits.           . Lois thanked Jean Desany for getting the newsletter out and Lettie Barton for the last minute writing.  The newsletter staff still struggle for information and articles and asked for ideas, suggestions and articles for future newsletters.  “Is anybody out there; does anybody care?”

Publicity  Committee -  Heidi Mitchell

Let Heidi know about member news and she’ll get it to the media.

Nancy Evans, Judith Lonergan and Lynne Saltonstall have been helpful.

Legislative Committee – Judith Lonergan

Carolyn Gargasz helped with tracking the two bills, later brought to the floor.  NHAVA members testified.  Bob Bussey offered statistics on how many citizens cannot make doctor’s appointments, etc. The question was asked whether Bob could share that information with all members.  That the transportation bill did not make it to the floor was a surprise.  Deborah is trying to come up with another bill.  NHAVA members need to educate on the great need for transportation.  Robin Albert thanked Judith, and Don Chesnel for their e-mails to keep NHAVA members informed.   Robin asked whether one of the meetings could be a legislative educational meeting.  Legislative Committee will plan a program to review laws; etc. from which we all can learn something new.

Nominating Committee – Jolee Chase (absent)
